Winter Drilling Operation Guidelines: Core Measures for Freezing and Slipping Prevention

I. Equipment Freezing Prevention: Prevention of Blockage and Cracks is Key

Drilling Fluid System: When equipment is not in use, all liquids in the mud pump, high-pressure manifold, and circulation tank must be completely drained.

If necessary, add antifreeze to the drilling fluid to lower the freezing point.

Diesel Engine and Fuel: Switch to low-pour-point diesel (-10# or -35#) and winter-grade engine oil.

When shutting down at night, drain the engine coolant or use antifreeze coolant.

Air System and Brakes: Install air dryers and regularly drain water from the air tank to prevent the air system from freezing.

Check and ensure the braking system is sensitive and effective to prevent malfunction due to freezing.

Water Supply Lines: All water lines must be deeply buried or insulated with heating tape and covered with insulation cotton.

Keep water valves slightly dripping to prevent freezing.

II. Personnel Anti-Slip Measures: Remove Ice and Frost, Keep Walkways Clear

Timely Snow and Ice Removal: Sweep immediately after snowfall stops. Spread industrial salt or de-icing agents in key areas such as derrick ladders, operating platforms, and walkways.

Set Up Anti-Slip Facilities: Lay anti-slip mats, palm fiber mats, or tie straw ropes on stairs, treads, etc.

Remove ice and snow from shoe soles promptly and wear anti-slip work shoes.

III. Accident Prevention During Operations: Slow, Steady, Check

"Slow" is paramount: All operations (raising and lowering drill pipes, moving vehicles, etc.) must be performed slowly to avoid sudden stops and starts and to prevent loss of control due to slippery ground.

Strengthen Inspections: Before starting work, focus on checking key parts such as derricks, overhead crane platforms, and ropes for ice buildup and remove it promptly.

Regulate Electricity Use: Winter electricity load is high; strictly prevent haphazard wiring, check electric heating equipment, and prevent fires.

Core Principles: Drain all liquids immediately after use; clear all passageways of snow immediately upon sight. Advance preparation is the prerequisite for ensuring safe production in winter.
