How to Perform Daily Maintenance of Drilling Equipment

The key to proper maintenance of drilling equipment lies in developing the habit of "pre-start inspection, in-operation observation, and post-shutdown cleaning." Before starting work each day, spend some time inspecting the equipment, checking for loose screws, leaks in tubing and joints, and wear or cracks in wire ropes and drive belts. After starting, let the machine idle for a while, carefully listening to whether the operating sound is smooth and observing whether the pressure, temperature, etc., on the instrument panel are normal. These simple steps can help you detect most minor problems early.

During equipment operation, correct operation itself is the best maintenance. Use the machine reasonably according to its capacity, avoiding prolonged overload operation. Pay attention to changes in formation hardness and adjust drilling pressure and speed as needed to reduce abnormal impact on the drill pipe and drill bit. At the same time, check whether the mud circulation is smooth, which can effectively remove debris from the hole and cool the drill bit. The operator's careful attention is often the first line of defense against malfunctions.

After each shutdown, promptly clean the drill pipes and machine surfaces of mud and dust to keep the equipment clean, especially around the engine radiator and hydraulic components. In addition, a regular maintenance plan should be established, such as checking all fasteners weekly, changing or topping up engine oil, hydraulic oil, and grease monthly according to the instruction manual, and performing functional tests on critical components such as the braking system and clutch. By formalizing maintenance into a clear process and keeping records, the equipment can be kept in good condition for a long time, effectively extending its service life.
